The Eternal City. Built on history and mythology, it is Italy’s most populous city, home to the three-time Scudetto winners, A.S. Roma. Associated to the Giallorossi is the iconic Lupetto badge, a creation from the mind of the late Piero Gratton, that is still used and revered by the club to this day. Adding to his legacy, his creative genius birthed the famed ‘Ghiachiolo’ (ice lolly) design on their home kit which was nicknamed due to its color pattern.
When it comes to trophies, 41 years separated their first and second triumph of Serie A’s most coveted prize, in which number two came during a glorious era of the 1980’s due in large part to the goalscoring exploits of Roberto Pruzzo and managerial brilliance of Nils Lieldhom. Their third and final Scudetto was hoisted high into the sky at the end of the 2000-2001 season. Many names have graced the pitch inside the hallowed grounds of the Stadio Olimpico, but none greater or more loved than ‘Il Re di Roma’ Francesco Totti and Davide De Rossi, legends at the club in their own right.
Roma have a stellar reputation of releasing some of the most eye-catching and stylish soccer jerseys across Europe. They may have mutually parted ways with Nike but fans are hopeful of expecting the same consistency in design from the next brand they link up with. Until then, we can continue to marvel at the latest releases for the upcoming 20/21 season. If nostalgia tugs at your emotions, COPA Football’s A.S. Roma retro collection will take you back to their golden years and if you want to showcase your club love on the daily, our selection of t-shirts, caps and accessories will satisfy any Giallorosso!
